Last month, The British Association of Sustainable Sport (BASIS) held their inaugural Sustainable Sports Awards at The Oval. Also celebrating the Associations 10th birthday, a variety of companies came together to showcase their sustainability efforts in the world of sport.
BASIS has provided expert help to sports clubs, venues, and governing bodies for a decade, helping them to understand their impacts, set targets and implement processes to improve their environmental performance.
When the opportunity to enter the awards came around, tiger up! knew we had the perfect submission for the Innovation in Initiatives & Products category.
Many tiger up! products can be used in sports facilities to provide sustainable solutions, everything is made from 100% recycled mixed waste plastics and can be recycled at end of life, creating a closed loop solution.
Although, on the day tiger up! didn’t take home any awards, we were astounded at the efforts and initiatives so many companies are adopting to make the industry more sustainable.
A special mention goes to Planet Super League, also runner up in our category, is a venture that runs tournaments for families to represent their favourite club, scoring goals by taking actions to reduce their CO2 emissions. Also, winner of the Innovation in Initiatives & Products category, the Racing Foundation & Thoroughbred Breeders Association, who’s environment Impact Assessments And Carbon Calculations on Thoroughbred Racehorse Stud Farms have increased engagement around sustainability in the in the industry and broader equestrian community.
Congratulations to the winners and runners up in all categories, you can read more about all the fantastic entrants here.
